June 29 – September 1, 2019

On the occasion of the 50th Anniversary of the Stonewall uprising, Wessel + O'Connor Fine Arts proudly salutes the achievements of the Gay Civil Rights movement with an exhibition of the visionary work of 40 GLBTQ Artists.

This celebration of those brave individuals who demanded acceptance on equal footing with their contemporaries will include paintings, photographs and sculpture by several generations of artists who have had a profound effect on our world.

From the late 19th Century photographic work of Baron Wilhelm von Gloeden in Italy, to the polymath artistry of France's Jean Cocteau and Pennsylvanias Pop Art sensation Andy Warhol, these artists literally changed our view of life with their art. Their bold influence on subsequent generations of artists is seen today in the loud and proud work of Lyle Ashton Harris, Nan Goldin and Richard Renaldi, among all the others on view here:

Slava Mogutin (b. 1974)
"Joey sniffing Carlos, San Francisco" 1999
